"Restricted Access" is a special status of web hosting account for some websites: you will not be able to make changes to the files on the server that require specialized programming ability or that may damage your website. This status generally applies to dynamic websites or websites with a Content Management System.
Why the concern?
With static sites, there is almost nothing that a person working on the site can do to damage the server. What they type into the page is passed, mostly unmodified, to the browser. Since the server isn't really looking at the source of the page, there is almost no danger.
With dynamic sites, each page may require a bit of work on the part of the server to create the final page. Through carelessness, it is possible to ask the server to do so much that it can literally cause the server to slow down or completely stop. If there are other sites on the server, they can be affected too! Imagine what headaches it would cause if one site could cause other sites to stop working.
What does WAE Tech do?
For static sites, we don't do much of anything. Since the sites are essentially benign, we grant you access to the source code to modify to your whim. We ensure that there is no way to mix custom and/or dynamic code into the site as a precaution.
If your site is dynamic, then we allow you access to view the code (it's your code, right!) but we do not allow you to modify the code at all. We have especially trained programmers that handle this sort of code and can ensure that all the sites on a server play nicely with each other.
Why is WAE Tech so careful?
To many businesses, their website is part of their lifeline. We do not want anything to disrupt their website and make it 404 - Not Found. How do I know if my website is dynamic or static?
If you've heard the terms "Server Script", "ASP", "Cold Fusion", "PHP", "Perl", or "Database" in conjunction with your site, then your site is most likely be a dynamic site. If you modify your own website, and feel that you don't know how to program, then you most likely have a static site.

Static Sites vs. Dynamic Sites
Most sites on the web are static sites. These sites have content that does not change and that does not require processing on the server to create. Often times, these sites are managed through applications such as Front Page. A static hosting account will generally suffice for these sites.
Dynamic sites, on the other hand, are much more complicated. The information on the pages may be changing frequently. Examples include news sites and online stores. Updating dynamic pages requires a knowledge of computer programming that is well outside of what most clients are comfortable. A dynamic hosting account is required for websites in this category.

Each hosting account comes with a customized management package--we take care of the website maintenance for you. This relieves you from having to learn Internet technology or hire someone to do it for you. For text and image changes to static portions of a website, WAE Technologies offers the following maintenance packages:
